Emergency crews took 277 calls for help in eight hours. Schools closed and a shopping centre flooded inside.

Confirmed

Huge storms soaked south-east Queensland on Thursday. Some places got more than 170 millimetres of rain in just three hours, 7NEWS reported. Almost 300 millimetres fell in a single day in parts of the region. People in parts of Morayfield, north of Brisbane, were told to prepare to leave their homes. The State Emergency Service (SES) answered 277 calls for help, Brisbane Times and 7NEWS reported. Morayfield State High School was shut. 7NEWS said at least 14 schools across Moreton Bay closed for the day. Water also flooded inside Morayfield Shopping Centre. On Buchanan Road, a reporter and a bystander helped a man get out of a ute caught in floodwater. In Rocksberg, crews pulled another man from fast-moving water. "That man was extremely lucky there," firefighter Brendan Smith told 7NEWS. Flood warnings were still in place on Thursday night. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) says more showers are on the way from Friday to Tuesday, 7NEWS reported. That means the risk of more flooding is not over yet. Never drive into floodwater.
