Scott Boland struck twice in two balls on a rain-hit first day of the second cricket Test against South Africa. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl in Gqeberha on Sunday. Spinner Nathan Lyon was left out so Australia could pick four fast bowlers. Rain delayed the start by two hours, and only 76 balls could be bowled. It was Boland's first red-ball game since the Sheffield Shield final in March, cricket.com.au reported. He got Aiden Markram out for 11. With the very next ball he got Bedingham out for a golden duck, which means out first ball. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma survived the hat-trick ball. South Africa were 2-20 when play was called off at 4.15pm local time. Bavuma was 4 not out and debutant Ackerman was 5 not out. Boland's full bowling figures have not been confirmed in the official report. Australia won the first Test by 214 runs. Day two starts at 6.45pm AEDT tonight.
