Mitchell Starc back on top of the Test bowling rankings

The fast bowler took nine wickets in the last Test, the International Cricket Council (ICC) says.

Confirmed

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is back as the number one bowler in Test cricket. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the change in its latest rankings. The ICC runs world cricket. Starc took 6 for 72 and 3 for 65 in the last Test, the ICC said. That means he took nine wickets in the match. Even so, Australia lost that Test by 176 runs. Starc moved past South Africa's Marco Jansen to take the top spot, according to the ICC. The rankings are updated after each Test match. They rate players on how well they have played over time. Starc is a left-arm fast bowler and has played for Australia for many years. Being ranked number one shows he is still one of the best bowlers in the world. It is not yet known whether he can hold the top spot after the next round of matches.
