The figure is down on the previous estimate, TV Tonight reports.

Subscription TV added $2.4 billion to Australia's economy, according to Deloitte Access Economics. TV Tonight reported the estimate. The work was done for ASTRA, the group that represents subscription TV companies. Subscription TV is TV you pay for, such as Foxtel. Mediaweek reported that the contribution was for 2025. Mediaweek said the industry supported 15,728 full-time equivalent jobs. Australians watched about 2.6 billion hours of subscription TV, the outlets reported. TV Tonight said the $2.4 billion figure was down on the previous estimate. More people are now choosing streaming services. That is changing how Australians pay for TV. The industry says it still matters for jobs and local shows. It is not yet known how the figure will change next year.
