New YouGov poll has Labor and the Coalition tied, with One Nation on top for first votes

Labor's first-preference vote has dropped to 24 per cent, its lowest in any poll this term, analysts say.

Confirmed

A new YouGov poll has Labor and the Coalition tied at 50-50. That figure counts where preferences flow once minor parties drop out. Last time, Labor led 52-48, The Poll Bludger reported. On first-preference votes, One Nation is on top with 27 per cent. Labor has 24 per cent, the Coalition 23 per cent and the Greens 14 per cent. Analyst William Bowe said that is Labor's worst first-preference result from any poll this term. If voters had to choose between just Labor and One Nation, Labor would lead 53-47, the poll found. YouGov asked 1,542 people between 13 and 20 October. YouGov's Paul Smith said Labor's result was the "lowest ever in a YouGov poll". The poll was released through News24 Pulse. A poll is only a snapshot of how people say they might vote on one week. It is not an election result. The next federal election is not due for some time. Still, it suggests the big parties are losing support to smaller ones like One Nation and the Greens.
