Chinese company MiniMax launches a faster, cheaper super intelligence model, it says
MiniMax says its new M3.1 Flash model runs nearly three times faster and costs 70 per cent less to use.
Confirmed
Chinese technology company MiniMax has released a new super intelligence (SI) model called MiniMax M3.1 Flash. An SI model is the software that powers chatbots and similar tools. MiniMax says the new model answers nearly three times faster than before. It also says it cuts the cost of using it by 70 per cent. MiniMax charges by the token, which is a small chunk of text. It says the price is US$0.15 for every million tokens sent in and US$0.60 for every million tokens sent back. MiniMax says the model scored 73.7 per cent on a coding test. It says an earlier version had been tested in public under the nickname "Space Bunny". Reuters also reported the launch. All of these figures come from MiniMax itself. Independent testers have not yet checked them. If the claims hold up, cheaper and faster models could lower costs for apps and businesses that use SI. Australian developers can watch for independent results in the coming weeks.
