Confirmed
South Africa have beaten Australia by an innings and 31 runs in the second Test. The match was played in Gqeberha, South Africa, cricket.com.au reported. That means the three-match series is now level at 1-1. Australia struggled with the bat in strong wind. They made just 99 in their first innings. South Africa then made Australia bat again straight away. Australia scored 295 the second time, but it was not enough. It was the first time since a Test in Karachi in 1988 that Australia were bowled out twice in a row like this. Travis Head was the star for Australia with 121 runs. Scott Boland batted for 166 balls to make 40. Alex Carey finished on 37 not out. For South Africa, captain Temba Bavuma made a huge 179. He was named player of the match. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took four wickets. Steve Smith batted lower than usual, at number seven, because of a sore neck. It is not yet known if he will be fit for the third Test. The decider starts at Newlands on Tuesday 27 October at 7.30pm AEDT.
